FOUNDATIONS / WELCOME SESSION
Your first session starts here
The Welcome Session is the required first step for all new athletes entering Academy coaching. Whether you are completely new to Olympic trapshooting, returning to the sport, or already experienced, the session gives you an opportunity to work with an Academy coach and establishes the appropriate starting point for what comes next.
Training takes place in Stoney Creek, welcoming participants from Toronto, across the GTA and Southern Ontario. No prior shooting experience or firearms licence is required, and the Academy provides the equipment and protective gear needed for the session.

WHAT TO EXPECT
A structured introduction, built around you
The Welcome Session combines an introduction to the sport with individual trapshooting instruction and coaching. First-time participants can experience trapshooting in a safe, supported environment, while experienced shooters can use the session as an assessment and starting point for future development.
01
Introduction & safety
Learn the sport, the range environment, and the safety expectations that support a confident first experience.
02
Individual coaching
Personal guidance focused on sound fundamentals, comfort, and building confidence as you begin breaking targets.
03
Assessment & next steps
For returning or experienced shooters, the coach can assess the current starting point and help identify an appropriate path for future training.
WHO IT’S FOR
New to the sport – or ready for a fresh start
The Welcome Session works equally well for complete beginners, people returning after time away, and shooters who want a professional assessment before entering a more structured coaching program.
THE PATHWAY
Discover the sport. Build from there
A Welcome Session can simply be a memorable introduction to trapshooting. For participants who want to continue, it also provides a natural entry into the Academy’s Foundations and Performance Development pathway.
